Asparagus

Picture
The first fresh produce of the year and available from late April until mid June.  Local fresh Asparagus is the Best, if you have only tried imported then you are in for one big surprise!  Always available from the farm and at your local stores.

The Harvest

Picture
Our asparagus is harvested just like you would in your own garden, BY HAND.
By snapping off the spear above ground, you are getting the most tender Asparagus possible.  No woody stems and no need to trim any extra off.
The only difference between our garden and yours, other than size, is that our employees use 4 person machines to ride on as they travel down the rows.  It is the only work around where you can lay down on the job.

Naturally Tender

Our climate is perfect for growing Asparagus, combined with our sandy loam soil, and sunny Okanagan weather, we have a beautiful purple hue to our spears which indicates high sugar content which is retained by hydrocooling to keep the sugars from turning to starch.
There is a myth out there that large spears of Asparagus are tough, Not So!  Our large spears are as tender and juicy as the thiner ones.
By buying directly from us, you are getting a premium product which is fresh and full of vitamins and nutrients.

Storing

Asparagus can be kept in the fridge for at least 1 week.  Stand the spears in a small amount of water in a container, or wrap in a plastic bag with a wet paper towel around the ends and keep in your crisper.

After Harvest

We produce many acres of Asparagus and even though the production cycle seems short, the work does not stop with the snap of the last spear.  After harvesting ends, we let the spears grow to their fullest, which are fields of fine leaved ferns.  We also monitor precipitation and nutrients and intervene at the right times to maximize the health of the plants.
The attention we bring to their summer and fall, will be directly linked to the performance of the next harvest to give you the best Asparagus around.
